Write to the atelier

Four people answer this form and three of them also cut the cloth. That is the whole customer service department, and it is why the answers tend to be long and the response times honest.

The atelier’s studio rails, hung with the current season in neutral cloth.

Ask us something

Fit questions are the ones we are best at. Tell us your usual size in a brand you own and what you dislike about how it sits, and we will tell you which of ours to take — including when the answer is none of them.

Demo formNothing here is transmitted. There is no request, no inbox and no storage behind this form — values stay in the page until you reload. Please do not type anything you would not put on a postcard.

Optional

Only if you would rather we rang.

Optional

Only if you are writing about stocking the collection.

Optional

Six digits, on the confirmation email. It saves us a round trip.

For fit: your chest and your usual size elsewhere. For an alteration: the piece, and how much you want off.

How should we reply?

No message is delivered. Nothing you type is kept once this page is closed.

Who reads what

Five desks, four people, because Hedda does two of them. The topic you choose on the form is what routes it, so it is worth a moment.

  • Fit and sizing

    Hedda, pattern cutter

Which size, whether to size up, and what a garment does after six washes. Hedda graded every pattern in the collection on three bodies rather than scaling from one, so she can tell you exactly where a Linden runs generous and where the Vega does not.

    fit@larsen.exampleMon–Fri, 09:00–17:00

  • Alterations and repairs

    Milo, workroom

Sleeve and hem length free once within ninety days. After that, moth holes, split seams and lost corozo buttons at any age — we charge for the work and not for the parts. Milo will also tell you when a repair is not worth doing, which is about one request in ten.

    workroom@larsen.exampleMon–Thu, 08:00–16:00

  • Orders and returns

    Aina

Where a parcel is, why a size is showing as unavailable, and the sixty-day return. Returns need nothing more than the label in the box; Aina only needs to hear from you if it has gone past a fortnight without a refund.

    orders@larsen.exampleMon–Fri, 08:30–16:30

  • Stockists and wholesale

    Rune

Eleven shops carry the collection and we are careful about the twelfth. Minimums are low and the terms are dull; what Rune will want to talk about is whether the collection makes sense next to whatever else is on your rail.

    trade@larsen.exampleTue–Thu, 10:00–16:00

  • Cloth and production

    Hedda again

Where a cloth was woven, what the minimum run was, and why a colourway is not coming back. We buy from three mills — Bergamo, Kortrijk and Hawick — and we will name the one behind any piece on the site.

    cloth@larsen.exampleMon–Fri, 09:00–17:00

Tell us what you dislike about the coat you own. It is a better question than which size.

Where to find us

One studio with a fitting room in it, and a stockroom that opens twice a year for the sample sale.

Prototypes, sampling rounds and the pieces that came back from a shoot. One of each size, mostly, and everything is final sale because a sample has already lived a life. Dates go to the letter list a fortnight ahead and nowhere else.

Asked most often

Six that arrive every week, answered here so you do not have to write for them.

I am between two sizes. Which do I take?
For outerwear, the larger — the Halden and the Sonder are cut to go over a knit and they look wrong pulled tight. For shirting and knitwear, the smaller: linen relaxes about half a size in six washes and lambswool relaxes from the first wear. Write to Hedda with your chest measurement if you want this answered for a specific piece.
Will a colourway come back?
Almost never. A mill will not weave under 400 metres, so a colourway exists for as long as one run of cloth does — usually about 180 coats. When it is gone the pattern stays and the cloth does not. The exception is the natural oat linen, which we have rewoven three years running.
Do you alter for free?
Sleeve and hem length on anything tailored, once, within ninety days of delivery. Post it back and it returns in about two weeks. Beyond that we charge for the labour and not for the parts, and Milo will quote before starting.
Can I return something worn?
Sixty days, unworn, tags on, using the label in the box. Worn is a different conversation and it is usually one we can have: if a seam went in the first month that is a fault, not a return, and we replace it.
Do you make to measure?
No, and we are unlikely to. Twelve pieces graded properly across five sizes is what four people can do well. What we do instead is alter, which covers most of the same ground for most bodies.
Can my shop stock the collection?
Possibly. Eleven do, and we add roughly one a year. Write to Rune with what else you carry rather than with your sales figures — the question is whether the collection sits well beside them, and everything else follows from that.

What happens after you write

It goes to a person, not a pool

The topic routes it to one of five desks. Nobody triages it first, and there is no reference number to quote back at us.

Fit answers come with numbers

Hedda replies with the actual measurements of the piece and the size she would take, rather than a link to the size guide.

A repair is quoted before it starts

Milo sends a price and a rough date. If a mend is not worth doing he says so, and posts the piece back either way.

Nothing is added to a list

Your address answers your question and then stops. The letter list is opted into deliberately, twice a year, or not at all.
